This post by Peter Hewitt:
I just discovered that submissions on the M2 Widening Project close in just over 2 weeks time (21 June)! Nobody seems to be publicising this, and it's quite hard to find out that date on the official websites.
I believe (but have been unable to confirm from any NSW government source) that the project includes filling in the gap between the two viaducts over Chilworth Reserve, which must surely be major construction work. Over what period of time (presumably including extended night work) and at what cost?
It seems to me that all this project does is to widen the funnel sucking traffic into the existing M2 "car park" nearing the Harbour Bridge, thereby further degrading access to the city from Beecroft!
I can find nothing on the Beecroft-Cheltenham Civic Trust website on this issue other than a submission made in February 2008. Then they said "The Trust would also oppose any widening of the existing carriageway because of the high impact on local amenity". The Trust should at least publicise the imminent closing of submissions. Or have we all given up?

BEECROFT ON SALE
This post from Jean of Beautiful Things by ...
You may recall that last year we instigated BEECROFT ON SALE.
This year it is being launched on Saturday 19 June from 9am. The sale can last as long as you wish it to - one day, one week, one month.
We have booked a full page add in the NDT 16 June edition. The cost will be approximately $100. However the more businesses booking and committed to such an event the cheaper the overall cost. Contributors will receive a tax invoice from NDT for payment and your records.
Let's make this a FUN event - dress your shop, create great atmosphere. Let's make Beecroft buzz!!
If you wish to partake, please let me know.

Proposed Map of the Village
Peter Hewitt of Ray White Beecroft has drafted this small map of the village, with some but not all of the businesses listed.
BoB is proposing to issue this to all interested businesses so you can print off your own copies and hand them out when people ask for information. If your business is not listed just let me know and I will update the list.
In due course we will produce the map a bit more professionally with sponsor listings to cover the cost of production.
